The Kronos miniature flash photolysis spectrometer from Ultrafast Systems LLC is designed to introduce chemistry students to the principles of chemical kinetics using time-resolved spectrometry. The device requires no laser, is sensitive in the visible spectral range and can be relocated without the need for realignment. With the device, students can generate reaction time profiles, allowing them to perform kinetic analysis of free radical reactions, of excited-state reactivity, and of coordination complex excited-state dynamics. Output data is presented in digital format as ASCII files. The device comes with software, laboratory manuals, chemicals and, optionally, a computer.
