MELAKA, Malaysia, June 2, 2008 -- Malaysia-based Dominant Semiconductors is offering a series of through-hole LEDs in a 5-mm round package for use in solid-state lighting and illumination applications. The company said the LEDs were designed to provide a well-defined radiation pattern and a cost-effective lighting solution.

dominant.jpgDevices are available in a variety colors, including super red, red, amber, orange, yellow, blue and true green with viewing angles of 15°, 30° and 60°, with 850 mcd typical luminous intensity at 20 mA for standard brightness. For high brightness, Dominant offers 1600 mcd typical luminous intensity with a 60° viewing angle and 4200-mcd typical luminous intensity with a 30° viewing angle at 20 mA.

The LEDs are made with an advanced optical epoxy, offering high-temperature and high-moisture resistance performance in outdoor signal and sign applications. They are also suitable for interior and exterior automotive lighting and applications requiring backlighting and status indication due to their high efficiency and low power consumption, the manufacturer said.
