Euromicron_SPM2b.jpgEuromicron Werkzeuge GmbH presents its SPM 2 portable polishing machine for field installation applications. Easy to operate, it provides reproducible results even in rough field environments.

The company says that there is a sharp increase in fibre optic cabling in private households, which poses challenges for technicians installing the cables. Using glass fibre in fibre-to-the-home (FTTH) applications often requires the installation of only one or two connectors. In such cases, it frequently is not worth using industrially produced cables, or it would be extremely expensive. Another application is the reconditioning of individual connectors where needed.

The maintenance-free machine is suitable for polishing all standard connector and ferrule types (LC, SC, SMA) in accordance with the applicable standards, with typical polishing times of <2 min. The polishing pressure is either linearly adjustable or set to be constant. The device features a robust and durable construction for both field and laboratory use and comes as a complete kit, with an all-purpose polisher fitting into a small, practical case. It can be powered via an external electrical outlet adaptor or a battery pack and is suitable for electricians who install FTTH solutions in the home, who carry out repairs or who must polish special cables. A version for APC connectors is available optionally upon request.
