EdmundOptics.jpgEdmund Optics Inc. has released three spectrum-stabilized fiber-coupled laser systems for Raman spectroscopy. They offer 450 mW of power at wavelengths of 785, 808 and 976 nm. The laser and driver are enclosed in a rugged self-contained package measuring 265 × 155 × 100 mm, and expected lifetime is longer than 10,000 h. The systems incorporate a thermoelectric cooler and controller, and digital on/off modulation.

That branch of spectroscopy concerned with Raman spectra and used to provide a means of studying pure rotational, pure vibrational and rotation-vibration energy changes in the ground level of molecules. Raman spectroscopy is dependent on the collision of incident light quanta with the molecule, inducing the molecule to undergo the change.
