The SH7286 high-end single-chip microcontroller from Renesas Technology Europe Ltd. is the latest product member of the SuperH family aimed at motor control applications. With an SH-2A core, the device offers up to 1 MB of fast metal oxide nitride oxide silicon embedded flash memory designed specifically for high-end drives, AC servos and general-purpose inverter markets. It also features an MTU2 timer unit with six channels of 16-bit timers, support for up to 16 input capture/output compare functions and a three-phase pulse width modulation capability for electrical motors.
