LAKE OSWEGO, Ore., Oct. 20, 2008 – The mach 5 100 kHz digital joulemeter from Spectrum Detector Inc. was designed to measure laser pulse energy at greater than 100,000 pps with 12 bit accuracy.

The M5-SJ and M5-PJ probes that interface to the joulemeter can capture and store up to 4 million pulses, have a system calibration uncertainty of ± 4 percent and are NIST traceable. The M5-SJ sensitive silicon probe features a UV enhanced detector and the M5-PJ pyroelectric probe features a broadband, LiTaO3 detector. Both include a small integrating sphere with 6 mm input aperture, providing attenuation and enhanced spatial uniformity. The joulemeter is suitable for those who use high rep rate sources, including diode pumped Q-switched YAG/YLF lasers and ultra short pulse fiber lasers. Applications also include product development, final and life testing, laser and process diagnostics and process control.

LabView application software features include an instrument control panel to measure range, trigger, zero baselines and more, a live mode display for quick measurement and laser set-up, and a data strip chart that includes auto scale, complete stats and trend lines. It also offers a data histogram, statistics, and a fast Fourier transform display that analyzes the performance of high rep rate pulsed lasers.
