IRVINE, Calif., Dec. 8, 2008 – Newport Corp. has released the BB-L magnetic-base beam block tool holder multi-function accessory suitable for laboratory use.

Newport-baseblock-tool-hold.jpgThe accessory combines the features of a beam blocker and a beam aligner with a ball driver tool holder. The front surface of the device has a grid pattern of 0.25-in squares that can be used as a reference for aligning or leveling optical beams.

Numbers printed on the edge of the grid pattern above the table surface measure height in inches and it can block unused or stray beams to promote eye safety. Two sets of four holes are provided in the top for mounting various sizes of ball drivers in both English or metric measurements.

It is made of black-anodized aluminum alloys and is designed to incorporate a three-element magnetic base for quick, stable placement on to the stainless steel surface of an optical table. To mount permanently, the base also has a slot for fastening to an optical table.
