MINNEAPOLIS, April 22, 2009 – SICK Inc. has launched its Z photoelectric sensors and introduced the next generation of its ELF photoelectric sensors. The low-cost devices reduce customers’ materials and labor costs by offering added mounting flexibility, easy setup and specifically tailored solutions.

SICK-Z3-Sensor.jpgCustomers can choose a standard front mount or a spherical ball mount. Either, when combined with a swivel bracket, renders the sensors infinitely adjustable. This flexibility makes the ELF and Z sensors suitable for almost any presence detection application on conveyor lines, packaging machines, bin controls and hands-free systems. They are all IP 67-rated for use in harsh environments. The ELF and Z models are assembled in the US, which allows the company to customize them with respect to cable length, addition of various connectors and brackets, customer-specific cable label, bulk pack and kit with reflector/bracket.

The ELF3 and ELF4 photoelectric sensors are offered in three models: retroreflective, fixed background suppression and energetic. Features include a flush red lens that provides an increased sensing range, and a highly visible output/power indicator.

The Z1 and Z2 sensors with right angle cables are available in the same three models and with the same flush red lens. Their clear housing enables 360° status indication. They are offered in cable or pigtail versions. The retroreflective Z3 has an adjustable spherical “eyeball” style housing and is offered in cable or pigtail versions.
