WATERLOO, Ontario, May 8, 2009 – Dalsa has announced the addition of the Falcon 4M60 and 4M30 Bayer filter color models to its family of Falcon global shutter cameras. Running at 60 fps with 4-megapixel (2352 × 1728) resolution, the Falcon 4M60 is suitable for use in machine vision applications including imaging and inspection of electronics, flat panel displays and semiconductors. The 4M30 operates at 30 fps.

DALSA_falcon.jpgBoth cameras use proprietary and patented CMOS sensor technology with global shuttering to eliminate the imaging issues often associated with full frame, frame transfer or rolling shutter cameras, such as smearing and time displacement artifacts. Individual color gain and offset enable white balancing of the image and make the cameras easy to use.

Fully programmable with a Base or Medium Camera Link interface, the cameras incorporate vertical windowing, flat-field correction, exposure control, gain and offset adjustment and 1000× antiblooming.

Pixel size is 7.4 µm, operating temperature is from 0 to 50 °C, power dissipation is <10 W, and nominal gain range is up to 4×. The CCE- and RoHS-compliant cameras offer 8- or 10-bit selectable data output. Power supply is 12 to 15 VDC, and dynamic range is 56 dB. The cameras measure 94 × 94 × 50 mm.

Other applications include area-of-interest, pick-and-place, solder paste inspection, semiconductor wafer bump inspection, intelligent traffic systems and industrial metrology.

The cameras are compatible with the company's X64-CL and Xcelera-CL series frame grabbers.
