Bruker AXS Inc. has updated its Microstar Ultra x-ray source for structural biology with the release of the Ultra II. It features proprietary Ultra Focus electron optics that provide enhanced intensity, producing an extremely high-intensity x-ray beam that is more than 30 times brighter than a conventional rotating-anode generator. Other features include an optimized 180-μm beam that minimizes air scatter for small samples, a 70 × 110-μm electron spot for high intensity and stability, and a true circular beam profile.
