Coherent.jpgThe all-solid-state Genesis 355 lasers offered by Coherent Inc. provide true continuous-wave output in the ultraviolet region. Based on proprietary optically pumped semiconductor laser technology, they are available with output powers of 40, 60, 80 and 100 mW. Beam quality is M2 <1.2, and noise is <0.5% rms. The lasers are suitable for use in flow cytometry applications such as egg and fertilized-egg sorting, and in confocal microscopy applications where their short wavelength and low M2 beam are required for optimum excitation of Hoechst and Indo dyes.
