Designed for multiphoton imaging, the XLPlan N 25× water-immersion objective unveiled by Olympus Life Science Europa GmbH has a numerical aperture of 1.05 and can be used for tissue samples with coverslips and for investigations, such as patch clamping, where the sample cannot be covered. Working distance is 2 mm, field of view is 27.5, and access angle is 35°. A correction collar compensates for refractive index mismatches, resulting in good axial and spatial resolution at hundreds of microns into living brain samples.
