Andor Technology has launched the Frappa tool for its Revolution laser-based spinning disc confocal microscopy systems, which are suitable for live-cell imaging. Named for the techniques that it supports, fluorescence recovery after photobleaching (FRAP) and photoactivation (PA), the module employs a dual galvanometer scan head to provide a computer-steered laser beam delivery system. It can be configured in-line with a confocal spinning unit, a camera or both. Using the Andor iQ software, users command the unit to bleach or activate regions of interest with defined times, laser lines and powers. Laser switching is synchronized using the company’s laser combiner multiport switch.
