The Connect-Chek 6000 from Norland Products Inc. is an interferometric optical profiler that automatically analyzes the geometry of PC polished connectors. It measures the radius of curvature, offset of polish, undercut or protrusion, and surface roughness. It compares the measurements to either Bellcore or IEC specifications and indicates a pass or fail status. The system combines an ultracompact interferometric optical system and embedded PC with a custom PC/104 board. It uses FPGA technology for implementing a custom mapping algorithm to speed the analysis of the connector end face.
