Available from Toptica Photonics AG, the iWave OEM diode module in the UV and blue wavelength ranges offers output power of >40 mW at 405 nm and a linewidth of <5 cm–1 at 150 GHz and at <0.08 nm for applications such as Raman spectroscopy and microscopy and for those with linewidth-sensitive deflection. Previously, Raman users had the choice between 13 mW at 405 nm with excellent coherence length and 60 mW at short coherence length, or they had to employ gas lasers. Featuring remote operation via an RS-232 interface, the device enables Raman spectroscopy to examine thin silicon layers with high spatial and spectral resolution. It offers coherence improved by a factor of 10 when the standard coherence length of free-running diodes (100 to 300 μm) is insufficient. Beam pointing stability is 10 μrad/K, and beam quality is TEM00, with a wavefront error of <0.05 λ, matching the values of the company’s iBeam module.
