OptoDiode.jpgThe ODD-470W selective-wavelength photodiodes released by Opto Diode Corp. have a spectral bandwidth of 100 nm and operate between 380 and 540 nm, with peak sensitivity response at 470 nm. They produce low dark current, have no optical filters and are suitable for use in color sensors, fluorescence detection and medical diagnostic applications. The hermetically sealed standard TO-46 can facilitates installation into any existing or new system. Storage and operating temperatures range from –30 to 85 °C, and lead soldering temperature is 260 °C.

The emission of light or other electromagnetic radiation of longer wavelengths by a substance as a result of the absorption of some other radiation of shorter wavelengths, provided the emission continues only as long as the stimulus producing it is maintained. In other words, fluorescence is the luminescence that persists for less than about 10-8 s after excitation.
