Continuum, a subsidiary of Excel Technology Inc., has released the Powerlite Plus Two Joule Option for researchers seeking higher levels of green energy for pumping Ti:sapphire lasers. The system provides 2 J at 532 nm and takes <5 min to reach full energy. It can be injection-seeded for a smooth temporal profile, and pump chambers can be readily removed for lamp changes and replaced without realignment. Gaussian optics are incorporated into the device to provide high spatial uniformity in the beam. The optical head measures 46.8 × 18 × 11.75 in.
