Hamamatsu.jpgFour back-thinned, full-frame transfer CCD line sensors that operate in time delay integration (TDI) mode are available from Hamamatsu Corp. With potential applications in flow cytometry and industrial inspection, the sensors each feature 128 vertical stages, which results in approximately 128 times greater signal strength than non-TDI sensors provide. Their multiple output ports yield a line rate of 50 kHz or greater. The vertical charge transfer is bidirectional so that image acquisition can be performed in either direction. The sensors provide high sensitivity over the 200- to 1100-nm spectral range with high quantum efficiency in the UV. They share the same pixel size (12 × 12 μm) and have the following variations by part number: S10200-02 has 1024 channels and two ports; S10201-04, 2048 channels, four ports; S10202-08, 4096 channels, eight ports; and S10202-16, 4096 channels, 16 ports.
