EdmundOptics.jpgEdmund Optics has unveiled new dichroic laser beam combiners that efficiently combine or separate multiple laser beams at a 45° angle of incidence. The polarization-insensitive devices feature low loss, reflection >98% and transmission >95%. Available at six cutoff wavelengths, they are suitable for combining or separating lasers between 375 and 785 nm. Made from low-auto-fluorescence substrates, they have a hard ion-beam-sputtered coating and are suitable for a variety of multilaser fluorescence imaging and measurement applications, including laser microscopy and flow cytometry.

flow cytometry
A method of measuring the characteristics of microscopic particles, usually cells, as they flow in a fluid stream through a beam of light. Particles may be stained with fluorescent dye and the fluorescence detected via laser illumination.
laser microscopy
Technique using functional optical microscope with the addition of a coherent source collinear with the image path. The laser light is intended to scan the sampled plane and acquire information from fluorescence of the observed ample. Confocal laser microscopy uses this technique.
