FREMONT, Calif., Feb. 19, 2010 – Thermo Fisher Scientific Inc. has announced the availability of the new Aspire Protein A, Protein G and IMAC Cobalt chromatography pipette tips for proteomic research. The 1-ml multichannel pipette tips are embedded with various Thermo Scientific Pierce resins, including immobilized Protein A Plus, Protein G Plus and HisPur Cobalt. They use customized color-coded purification work flows and enable accelerated high-purity sample preparation and parallel sample processing without compromising yield. Up to eight samples can be processed in parallel within 20 min, without the need for centrifugation. The Aspire chromatography tips enable high-quality and cost-effective sample preparation in less time, with no lengthy incubations steps. The Protein A and G tips capture and purify a variety of monoclonal and polyclonal IgG antibodies from serum, ascites or cell culture supernatants. Each Protein A and Protein G tip contains 50 µl of the Thermo Scientific Pierce immobilized Protein A Plus and Protein G Plus Agarose, respectively, with binding capacities of 1 mg. The IMAC Cobalt tips are suitable for fast small-scale purification of histidine-tagged proteins. Each tip contains 50 µl of Thermo Scientific Pierce HisPur cobalt resin that binds up to 0.5 mg of his-tagged protein with higher specificity than is possible with conventional nickel resins, according to the company. The tips isolate high-purity proteins with less metal leaching.
