IRVINE, Calif., April 26, 2010 — Newport Corp. introduces the UMR-TRA XY stages, a new line of integrated YX stages built from industry-standard UMR linear stages and TRA actuators.

The device’s small footprint measures 90 x 38 mm, including the base plate. Its stages are designed specially for applications in confined spaces, making them suitable for a range of motion control tasks in research and industry fields.

It has 12.5 mm travel, and it is available in either English or metric versions, DC or stepper motor, and a vacuum-compatible stepper-motor version which is compatible down to 10-6 hPa.

In research, it is ideal for use in vacuum applications and other space-restricted setups. It is suitable for laser beam positioning and can withstand high machine accelerations for industrial applications.

It is compatible with all of the company’s motion controllers, including the handheld NewStep single-axis stepper-motor controller and the high performance XPS universal controller.
