Digilab Inc. has released the Identity plate reader for high-throughput measurement and identification of samples using Raman spectroscopy. The plate reader can be used with 96- or 384-well microtiter plates, glass slides or optional tablet holders, with the capacity to measure and analyze samples in a 96-well plate in less than five minutes. It is configurable with either a 532- or 785-nm laser, and it has optional plate adapters for measuring liquids, powders and solid samples. Its software can store data files in formats that are compatible with many other spectral analysis and library search-and-build software packages.

Raman spectroscopy
That branch of spectroscopy concerned with Raman spectra and used to provide a means of studying pure rotational, pure vibrational and rotation-vibration energy changes in the ground level of molecules. Raman spectroscopy is dependent on the collision of incident light quanta with the molecule, inducing the molecule to undergo the change.
