The KH-7700 digital microscope from Hirox-USA Inc. is an all-in-one unit designed for live observation, recording and measurement. An original algorithm allows it to tile quickly in real time, retaining high optical resolution as it increases the field of view up to 50x. It is integrated with a 15-in. UXGA LCD monitor, hard drive and CD/DVD-R/RW drive and features pre-installed 2-D and 3-D measurement software and a function that can automatically select the lens and calibration values needed as the lens and magnification are changed.

A transparent optical component consisting of one or more pieces of optical glass with surfaces so curved (usually spherical) that they serve to converge or diverge the transmitted rays from an object, thus forming a real or virtual image of that object.

optical resolution
A measure of image quality produced by an optical system. May be specified in terms of cycles per millimeter, referencing a repeating bar pattern; or angular resolution, referencing the angle subtended by two distant point sources that are just resolved by the system.
