DEER PARK, N.Y., June 3, 2010 — The upgraded version of the T-Max 5 low-profile direct-drive rotary servo positioning stage manufactured by Nutec Components Inc. increases load capacity and improves positioning performance and trajectory control.

Typical applications include laboratory testing, laser machines, optical metrology, and photonic and optical testing and manufacturing.

Driven by a powerful, brushless servo torque motor with an integrated high-resolution rotary encoder system, the stage offers a 135-mm hub diameter platform that provides smooth, low friction rotary motion with 360° continuous travel over a large speed range with low hysteresis, low noise and low vibration.

Features include accuracy to within 25 arcsec, <8 arcsec of wobble, <4 µm of concentricity and <6-µm flatness of rotation. High-precision options can reduce these specifications down to 1 µm. These performance characteristics make the stage suitable for intermittent part indexing, skew adjustment, and precise angular positioning and alignment.

Built for high-precision applications, the stage is constructed with a robust, monolithic rotating hub suspended by a preloaded bearing system with duplex angular ball bearings to deliver good angularity and stability, good dynamic characteristics and unlimited service life, even at maximum loads. An optional cross roller bearing on top achieves extreme stiffness.

The stage is available in four sizes from a 50- up to a 200-mm hub. All models feature an aperture permitting feedthrough of tooling or electrical, vacuum or pneumatic supply lines. Vacuum-compatible and cleanroom versions enable use in cleanrooms, vacuum chambers and glove boxes.
