Microbial identification
Bruker Daltonics Inc.Request Info
Bruker Daltonics Inc. has announced the Maldi
BioTyper system for identification and classification of microorganisms. It analyzes
the characteristic protein expression patterns of bacteria, yeasts and fungi
via Maldi-Tof mass spectrometry. Starting from a single colony, sample deposition
and preparation is performed within five minutes, and no initial assessment, such
as gram staining, oxidase tests or PCR primers, is needed. The system’s software
implements the data processing steps from raw spectra to peak lists, visualizing
the analysis in a graphical user interface. The system is suitable for such
applications as taxonomical and infectious disease research, microorganism detection
and identification in environmental analysis, food safety and water quality.
