Princeton Optronics Inc.Request Info

Princeton Optronics Inc. has introduced a high-power vertical-cavity surface-emitting laser (VCSEL)-based multichip laser module delivering 480 W of quasi-continuous-wave power. It has four 5 x 5-mm VCSEL chips that are connected in series, each delivering 120 W of output power. The chips are mounted on a copper heat sink that is fan-cooled and integrated with the module. The module is suitable for illumination and medical applications and for users who want to employ a ready-made pump for solid-state lasers. It can be custom-configured for other power levels and wavelengths.

GLOSSARY
illumination
The general term for the application of light to a subject. It should not be used in place of the specific quantity illuminance.
solid-state laser
A laser using a transparent substance (crystalline or glass) as the active medium, doped to provide the energy states necessary for lasing. The pumping mechanism is the radiation from a powerful light source, such as a flash lamp. The ruby and Nd:YAG lasers are solid-state lasers.
