PALATINE, Ill., Sept. 24, 2010 — Lumex has launched the through-hole QuasarBrite four-leaded RGB LED with a 120° viewing angle. It is suited for applications that require high intensity light in spatially restricted spaces.

Its enhanced thermal design lead frame provides good heat dissipation, moisture resistance and a long lifetime. The off-the-board design also provides enhanced convection, with air freely passing on all sides of the epoxy for more efficient cooling.

The RGB format combined with the extended viewing angle provides consistent, well-matched visual performance and an even view angle throughout the display.

Applications include high-output airport, retail and hospitality signage; industrial controls; portable medical devices; and decorative and indicator lighting in gaming machines.

The RoHS-compliant LED contains three individual dies in red (635 nm), green (520 nm) and blue (470 nm) in a compact 5-mm package. Typical intensity is 20 lm.
