WEDEL, Germany, Sept. 27, 2010 — The Shack-Hartmann WaveSensor wavefront sensors made by Trioptics GmbH measure the wavefront and lens shape of spherical and aspherical lenses in real time. High accuracy and a large dynamic range of up to >1500 λ allow the measurement of highly aspherical lenses.
All four models exhibit tilt measurement sensitivity of <1 µrad, repeatability of <λ/200 rms and absolute accuracy of <λ/20 rms. All measure <74 × 100 × 144 mm and operate over a wavelength range of 350 to 1100 nm.
The 150 model has aperture dimensions of 15 × 15 mm, 150 × 150 lenslets and a focus dynamic range of >1500 λ, and it weighs <1000 g.
The comprehensive software that is supplied with the sensors provides various ways of analyzing and displaying the wavefront data, including, among others, real-time Zernike analysis, modulation transfer function and point spread function calculation. Data export and saving functions allow for flexible use of measurement and analysis results. Theoretical design data can be loaded and compared in real time during measurements. WaveSensor communicates via Camera Link or FireWire B with the software.
The optional reflex module extends the applications of the sensors to 3-D topography measurement. The module comprises an illumination unit with a collimated light source, a beamsplitter and an objective tube. Measurement is performed either with a collimated beam using the illumination unit only, or with a focused beam using the illumination unit and an additional objective lens.
The collimated illumination is used to measure the surface and angle of plane optics. Nonplanar surfaces, like aspheric lenses, are measured using an objective lens.
