PENNINGTON, N.J., Oct. 14, 2010 — PD-LD Inc. has introduced the high-power, Volume-Bragg Grating (VBG)-stabilized multimode 647-nm red laser series. This product line represents the first red-wavelength range lasers to be stabilized using the proprietary and patented VBG technology, and it features a combination of high power, accurate center wavelength, narrow bandwidth and small size.

The powerful stabilized red laser source enables an increased range of spectroscopic analytical capabilities. The lasers’ increased precision and expanded range allow for better characterization of the C-H stretch range in Raman spectroscopy, making them suitable for analyzing many organic compounds and various other substances.

The lasers offer high spectral purity, a linewidth of <0.1 nm and high optical power. The internal temperature control insures spectral stability and consistent power over varied operating conditions.

The initial product offerings feature a power output of up to 500 mW and are offered in three configurations: pigtailed, free space and as turnkey USB-controlled subsystems. They also are available as discrete components in a low-profile 14-pin butterfly package.

In addition to Raman spectroscopy, applications include avionics and sensing.
