Hamamatsu Photonics UK Ltd. has introduced a range of quantum cascade distributed feedback lasers. The L10195 series is available in continuous-wave and pulsed models, with standard emission wavelengths from 4565 to 9670 nm. CW output powers range from 15 to 80 mW, while the pulsed output powers range from 100 to 300 mW. Pulsed mode operation is at room temperature, and CW operation is at 77 K. Because the L10195 instruments have a very narrow spectral linewidth and wide tunability by changing the chip temperature, they are good candidates for the next generation of infrared laser spectroscopy systems. This technique has widespread applications for environmental monitoring, medical diagnostics, process control and security applications.
