DORTMUND, Germany, Nov. 5, 2010 — LIMO has released a medical laser with two parallel wavelengths for quick and uncomplicated surgical treatment.

The compact 1470-nm diode laser has been supplemented by an additional parallel wavelength of 980, 940 or 810 nm. This long established standard wavelength on the medical market, combined with the expedient wavelength of 1470 nm, can be individually controlled. The power rating of the fiber-coupled laser is 15 and 30 W. Upon request, a power rating of >100 W is available.

The dimensions of the potential-free housing are reduced but completely equipped with a protective window, a fiber contact switch, a monitor diode and an integrated pilot laser. The combination of a compact design with all additional and safety features makes it suitable for integration into OEM appliances, without involving additional development and production costs.

The high-performance laser module makes it possible for the end user to operate at practically all working and ambient temperatures and in nearly all operating modes, from continuous wave to the most varied pulsed conditions.

The diode laser module is maintenance-free and suitable for use in surgery and urology applications. The two wavelengths make higher absorption possible in water and hemoglobin. Treatment can be performed quickly and with high removal rates. Further advantages include safe and high-precision treatment (less bleeding, protection of the adjacent tissue), minimum postoperative problems, and quick and uncomplicated healing, with no stitches.
