MISSISSAUGA, Ontario, Dec. 10, 2010 — Lumen Dynamics Group Inc., formerly Exfo Life Sciences and Industrial Div., has introduced the OmniCure UV LED MAX heads, the latest addition to the OmniCure line of accessories for use with the LX400 LED curing system.

Offering high maximum irradiance levels at 9500 mW/cm2 with a 365-nm UV LED and a 3-mm lens, the LED heads are designed to reduce UV bonding manufacturing costs through faster curing times, higher power efficiency and optimum control with monitoring capabilities.

The energy-efficient heads offer maximum heat dissipation by using copper metal to extract internal heat from the LED, and external aluminum fins to increase air cooling under rigid manufacturing conditions.

Using patented Intelli-Lamp LED technology, the LED heads provide real-time monitoring of LED temperature and number of hours of operation. They ensure maximum power efficiency while providing the high level of output required for achieving optimum results, and they deliver more than 18% higher power than previous generation LED heads, while maintaining the same level of energy consumption. When combined with the OmniCure UV LED curing system, they produce energy efficiencies with an 80% reduction in power consumption as compared to a UV arc lamp spot curing solution.

The MAX heads offer high reliability with increased control and an extended lifetime. OmniCure offers a wide selection of UV LED lenses compatible with its new MAX heads that provide greater flexibility for use in a broad range of UV assembly applications. Manufacturers are now able to achieve higher levels of power to meet their specific application requirements and accelerate their UV curing assembly processes.
