BARRINGTON, N.J., Dec. 10, 2010 — Optimized for machine vision applications, Edmund Optics’ TechSpec VIS-NIR compact fixed-focal-length lenses provide transmission out to 1000 nm, rendering them suitable for factory automation, inspection and qualification applications that require NIR or VIS-NIR performance. The lenses have been designed with true factory automation in mind. Their optical designs take into consideration the precise working distances and demanding requirements of factory automation and inspection. To perform in restrictive lighting conditions, the lenses feature large maximum apertures and a broadband antireflection coating. Their robust and rugged housing accommodates harsh manufacturing environments, and their compact size makes them suitable for use in space-restricted environments. They include a convenient locking iris and focus adjustment with recessed setscrews to prevent unintended lens adjustments. The lenses support up to ?-in. sensors. For IR imaging only, the company's #65-796 UV-VIS cut filter threads directly onto the M25.5 × 0.5-mm front filter thread of each lens. Each lens is manufactured to a high tolerance, which results in good imaging performance and low lens-to-lens variation. This consistent quality enables simple installation into multiple systems. The lenses are available in 16-, 25- and 35-mm sizes and are in-stock and available for immediate delivery.
