BLOOMINGTON, Minn., Dec. 21, 2010 — PPT Vision has announced the high-resolution M-390 smart cameras that deliver good accuracy for machine vision applications. Used as part of the company’s Impact M-Series embedded vision systems, they are single systems with four asynchronously triggered independently operating cameras running distinct inspection, guidance or identification programs.
Their design allows operators to mix and match camera resolutions for all points of inspection, providing the flexibility to deploy cameras that are specifically suited to each of the separate inspection requirements. With 16 times the resolution of VGA (640 × 480) vision cameras, the smart cameras provide solutions for inspections that require high precision.
Increasing the vision system’s performance capabilities, the addition of four independent smart cameras allows the M-Series systems to differentiate parts, locate defects and precisely gauge features on four sides of a part. Equipped with an optional right angle view, the compact smart cameras offer increased mounting possibilities in space-constrained locations.
They combine high-resolution inspection accuracy, high-speed image capture and a small form factor. They provide machine vision configuration and integration for factory automation applications.
The embedded vision system allows users to perform up to four different inspections with a single vision processor, eliminating the need to purchase costly separate inspection/guidance programs and reducing set up and networking time. Using proprietary universal Impact software, the M40 processor works with Microsoft Windows XP to transmit data and images, networking directly to databases, supervisory control and data acquisition systems and other business system software. The M-Series provides a machine vision solution for manufacturing industries that require more than one inspection, including electronics, pharmaceutical, medical devices, consumer products and automotive.
