Leybold Optics USA Inc. is extending its product range with the addition of an 8-in. Helios sputtering tool for optical coatings. It features 12 substrate stations and higher throughput than the standard 4-in. version. The new model offers up to three dual magnetrons and a radio-frequency plasma source. The stability of its process allows for quick turnaround time from design to production and results in extremely repeatable coatings, which are dense and shift-free. The tool is suitable for the production of polarizers, beamsplitters, and notch and fluorescence filters.
