BARRINGTON, N.J., April 1, 2011 — Edmund Optics has introduced its TechSpec in-line telecentric lenses that feature an ultracompact design with a small footprint for ease of integration into environments where space is at a premium. Large maximum sensor formats provide even front illumination for high accuracy and resolution.

The lenses produce good telecentricity with very low distortion, which makes them well suited for easy integration into gauging systems and for volume inspection applications. The in-line port accepts ¼-in. and smaller fiber optic lightguides, making the lenses suitable for imaging reflective objects and electronics and for circuit board and semiconductor inspection.

They are offered in a choice of working distance/magnification options and feature a fixed aperture and focus, which renders them suitable for implementation onto factory floors and assembly lines, where the f number and focus will remain fixed over time with no adjustments needed, saving time and resources.

Applications range from single unit inspection stations to high-volume implementation.
