Alliance Fiber Optic Products Inc. has released a series of fiber optic subscriber and lightwave connector (SC and LC, respectively) internal shutter adapters. The units have a retractable shutter inside the adapter body, which is only actuated by inserting the SC or LC ferrule into the adapter. One special design prevents end face damage of the connector ferrule. The shutters are fully automatic to provide necessary eye safety from potentially harmful light without additional manual intervention. The company’s internal shutter adapters are available in SC simplex/duplex and LC duplex/ quad designs and in zirconia or phosphor bronze alignment sleeves in flange or flangeless body types.
