The new 150-kHz PicoFlash 355-nm ultraviolet laser from Teem Photonics SA, designed for eye surgery, is based on a master oscillator fiber amplifier architecture that enables users to vary the pulse energy or peak power and the repetition rate, independently of each other, while the pulse width remains constant. Pulse repetition frequency is up to 150 kHz, and pulse width is 750 ps, with energy of 6 μJ per pulse, typical, as well as low heat dissipation. It delivers high throughput and high speed and can be used also for efficient plasma generation and transparent materials processing. The more powerful PicoSpark produces pulses with energies of hundreds of microjoules at repetition rates of 40 kHz, providing average powers of several watts. It is available at 1064 and 532 nm.
