ROCHESTER, N.Y., May 12, 2011 — Sydor Instruments has launched a ballistics imaging system, an alternative to high-speed video, that is helping the US Army to accurately measure testing requirements for projectile orientation at US test facilities.

The light source system allows a commercial off-the-shelf machine vision camera to capture the yaw and angle of a fast-flying projectile crossing a field of view.

The system offers adjustable pulse from 12 to 40 ns, a high repetition rate, alignment and pulsed imaging modes, an integrated pulse shaping circuit, a customizable illumination area and multiple mounting points.
