The Model NAG-250 allows users to integrate grinding and lapping into one process, saving valuable production time. The NAG-250 utilizes a high-precision, high-stiffness air-bearing spindle in conjunction with a vacuum chuck for work holding. This results in superfine finishes (1.7-μm Rmax) and high throughput efficiency.

GLOSSARY
grinding
The process in the manufacture of an optical system that gives it the required geometric shape.
lapping
1. The process of wearing down the surface of a softer material by rubbing it under pressure against the surface of a harder material that has been formed in the shape opposite to that desired on the softer material. Loose, wet abrasive generally is used between the two parts, but sometimes the abrasive is embedded in the lap in a rigid form (see diamond cutting tool). 2. See fiber lapping.
