SAN DIEGO, July 22, 2011 — Photron USA Inc.'s high-definition high-speed Fastcam SA6 camera is suitable for use in automotive, military, broadcast, particle velocimetry and digital image correlation applications. It is available in 36-bit color and more light-sensitive 12-bit monochrome versions. It operates at up to 1500 fps with 1920 × 1080-pixel resolution from the 1920 × 1440 native resolution CMOS sensor. At reduced resolution, the camera can operate at 75,000 fps with a minimum global electronic shutter time of 2.7 μs (available independent of the frame rate selected). Both C- and F-lens mounts are provided with the large-format camera, which also is compatible with the Canon ES/EF series lenses and available with PL and B4 lens mounts. Memory sizes of 8, 16 and 32 GB are offered, providing 1080 high-definition resolution record durations of 1.72, 3.44 and 6.89 s, respectively. Dual HD-SDI and a single RS-170 video output on the rear panel enable seamless review/saving of recorded image data immediately after the recording is completed. The camera can be precisely controlled via the free Photron Fastcam Viewer software, the optional remote control keypad or through programmable function buttons on the rear panel. The camera features good light sensitivity and low-noise operation because of microlenses that are designed to focus the maximum available light onto the light-gathering portion of the 10-μm-sq thermoelectrically cooled pixel.
