Optical Timing Reference Source
Armstrong Optical Ltd.Request Info
NORTHAMPTON, England, Aug. 9, 2011 — Armstrong Optical Ltd. has expanded its range of optical timing reference sources with the introduction of the FLP fiber laser pulser.
The system is based on a vertical-cavity surface-emitting laser emitting at 665 nm and providing output through a multimode SC/PC fiber connection. Used in conjunction with an external pulse generator, it supplies light pulses with widths of 88 ps per pulse full width half maximum at low energy. The pulses are suitable for timing applications.
Operating power is provided from the external pulse generator using 0 to 5-V input. Typical applications include the calibration of streak camera ramp times longer than 1 μs.
The device extends the company’s range of streak camera accessories, which include an 8-GHz comb generator that delivers 60-ps pulses at 665 and 780 nm, and a 16-megapixel vacuum x-ray CCD camera used in plasma physics, deep-UV lithography, x-ray microscopy and x-ray spectroscopy.
