OBERSULM, Germany, Aug. 22, 2011 — IDS Imaging Development Systems GmbH now offers its uEye ME series as board-level cameras for OEMs. With an optional lens mount, the ME features a 90° angled lens flange and is suitable for use in robotics and machine vision applications. Available with CCD and CMOS sensors, the cameras offer a range of resolutions from VGA to 5 megapixel, and a high-dynamic-range sensor. The sensor enables high contrast and a dynamic range of up to 120 dB, rendering it well suited for applications with large differences in brightness, such as robot-assisted welding. All uEye ME models support binning/subsampling and area-of-interest processes. They operate at up to 100 fps with 640 × 480-pixel resolution. The USB port and digital inputs/outputs are designed for industrial environments. Standard USB and lockable Mini-B connectors are available to offer secure and firm connectivity. Apart from the board-level variants, the camera also is available with a robust metal housing. Features include a comprehensive software package for Windows and Linux (32- and 64-bit versions), a software development kit, demo programs, and source codes in C++, C# and VB. A variety of interfaces are available, including ActiveX and DirectShow/WDM, as well as various machine vision programs. The software development kit is identical for all uEye cameras, eliminating the need for reprogramming when changing models.
