WATERLOO, Ontario, Canada, Sept. 1, 2011 — For industrial machine vision, traffic/transportation and medical/scientific applications, Teledyne Dalsa Inc., a Teledyne Technologies company, has introduced the Genie TS series cameras. They combine advancements in the company’s CMOS imaging sensor technology with a Gigabit Ethernet interface. The cameras include VGA, 1.2-, 1.4-, 2-, 4-, 5-, 8- and 12-megapixel formats. They operate at speeds of up to 300 fps and are available in monochrome and color versions. Features include image filtering, image compression, color correction, color space conversion and image transfer-on-demand. Industrial applications include semiconductor, electronics, food, packaging and other manufacturing and assembly processes. Integrated performance and operational capabilities include a dynamic range suitable for optimizing image capture from sun to shade, motorized lens control with image-to-image aperture, zoom and focus functionality, auto iris, and RS-485 and RS-232 ports to control peripherals around the camera. The rugged and compact body is equipped with a GigE Vision-compliant, direct-to-PC interface that facilitates high-speed data transfer deployment of multicamera networks. The cameras are based on the Automated Imaging Association GigE Vision Standard. They transmit data over standard CAT-5e and CAT-6 cables to distances of up to 100 m, allowing a greater distance between the camera and the inspection system. They are supported by proprietary Sapera Essential software and its Genie Framework package for fast and simple camera setup. Genie Framework employs the company’s trigger-to-image reliability engineering, accelerating application development and deployment time by providing developers with a 360º view of the entire acquisition process.
