KEMP, Texas, Sept. 2, 2011 — Larson Electronics’ Magnalight has announced the release of an explosion-proof LED light fixture with UL certification and a Class 1 Division 1 and 2 and Class 2 Division 1 and 2 rating.

The 4-ft-long four-lamp LED light fixture replaces traditional fluorescent fixtures and provides more light with less power consumption and enhanced durability, as well as better contrast and good color rendering.

The EPL-48-4L-LED light fixture is suitable for petrochemical processing, offshore marine operations and paint spray booths. The corrosion-resistant housing constructed of copper-free aluminum alloy, and four LED lamps enclosed within impact- and heat-resistant Pyrex tubes, are durable and able to withstand the rigors of marine and industrial applications.

By using LED tubes instead of fluorescent bulbs, the company has done away with the ballast required with fluorescent lamps, reducing fixture weight and maintenance issues. A surface-mount bracket is supplied standard. The design of the LED fixture allows it to be operated with voltages ranging from 120 to 277 VAC for use with a variety of power options. Also offered are low-voltage configurations that allow operation from 12 to 24 VDC.

The LEDs have a T6 temperature rating and offer a 50,000-h operating life. Screw-on end caps with O-ring seals simplify maintenance and re-lamping.

Additional applications include manufacturing lines, oil rigs and shipyards.
