NEUBEUERN, Germany, Sept. 16, 2011 — Steinbichler Optotechnik GmbH presents its Comet L3D blue light 3-D scanning system for high-precision 3-D digitizing. It combines blue light technology with high accuracy, quick acquisition and portability.
Based on proven Comet technology, the scanning system is characterized by its reliable electronics and high-quality industrial optics. Equipped with a 2-megapixel camera, it has a fixed triangulation basis that can be used with preadjusted lenses. Because of the predefined position of lens and camera, the projection lenses can be changed quickly and easily, so the necessary field of measurement can be adapted according to application requirements in <5 min.
Usability and one-man operation capability were two of the considerations in designing the L3D. It is supplied in an ergonomic weight-optimized and rugged transport box. The standard thread allows use of commercial video tripods and heads.
Applications include quality control, measuring fragile plastic parts or parts with many different features, and 3-D digitizing for reverse engineering in the plastics and metal industries.
