Proteus Infrared AR Coatings

PLYMOUTH, England, Sept. 22, 2011 — Artemis Optical Ltd. has launched its Proteus high-durability infrared antireflection (AR) coatings.

The coatings deliver high transmission over a specified waveband that increases the system’s signal-to-noise ratio and improves the identification range. They are designed to meet MIL-C-48497 Para 4.5.5.1, extending system life and operational performance.

They are nonradioactive, which reduces export restrictions, and because they are already developed for a wide range of infrared substrate materials, lead time and development costs are reduced.

Customers for the coatings include manufacturers of thermal imaging cameras and systems. Thermal imaging allows images of heat signatures to be displayed on a monitor or other devices. This technology has wide, and spreading, application in areas such as building construction, environmental monitoring and electrical cable maintenance, military night vision and tumor detection.

The coatings also can be used in a variety of photonic research applications, particularly where they are required to withstand harsh environmental conditions.
