OTTAWA, Ontario, Canada, Sept. 27, 2011 — Lumenera Corp. has introduced its 5-megapixel USB 2.0 camera series for industrial and scientific imaging applications. Including the Sony Super HAD ICX655 CCD sensor, the Lw560 and Lw565 feature 2448 × 2048-pixel resolution and selectable 8- or 14-bit output, providing good color images in the visible and near-infrared.
The digital cameras are designed for applications requiring high sensitivity and vivid color reproduction, such as traffic, machine vision, 3-D biometrics, ophthalmology and low-light imaging. With interline transfer, progressive scan, global electronic shutter and a short image integration time, they capture high-speed motion images with the least chance of blur. Region of interest and binning modes allow the cameras to operate at 23 fps with 640 × 480-pixel resolution without compromising image quality.
The Lw560 is a board level camera suited for custom and OEM imaging applications, while the Lw565 is a fully enclosed model available off the shelf. Both can be modified to suit specific budgetary or project requirements, including optimizing color correction matrices that target specific colors of importance, fully customizable enclosures and unique lens controller circuitry. The cameras also are available with a scientific-grade option that is suitable for collimated light applications such as ophthalmology.
Available in color and monochrome, they feature powerful onboard processing to deliver optimal image quality. The USB 2.0 interface eliminates the need for frame grabbers and provides plug-and-play ease of use. A complete software development kit is available to quickly integrate camera functions into OEM applications. It includes support for Standard Windows API, Windows .NET and DirectX. The cameras are fully compatible with the company’s existing LuCam API interface and software.
