The Chameleon Compact OPO-Vis, an optical parametric oscillator (OPO) from Coherent Inc., offers an optional fully integrated second-harmonic-generation accessory that provides automated frequency doubling of the OPO and the Chameleon laser output. When used with the Chameleon ultratunable one-box laser, it provides an automated tuning range of 340 to 1600 nm, with simple touch-screen controls and no manual intervention. It provides hundreds of milliwatts of output power over most of its tuning range, which can be expanded to cover the mid-IR region between 1750 and 4000 nm. Applications include multiphoton imaging, time-resolved spectroscopy and terahertz studies. Broad and independent tuning of the laser and OPO outputs enables coherent anti-Stokes Raman scattering spectroscopy and imaging with a single laser system as well as flexible pump-probe studies in photochemistry and biology.
