IDEA Programmable Linear Actuator
Haydon Kerk Motion Solutions Inc.Request Info
WATERBURY, Conn., Dec. 2, 2011 — Haydon Kerk Motion Solutions Inc., a division of Ametek Inc., has introduced the programmable and RoHS-compliant IDEA size 23 noncaptive linear actuator, which combines high-output force, rotary to linear motion, stepper drive and programmable control in a single integrated package.
Linear travel per step ranges from 0.0031 to 0.127 mm, and output force is up to 200 pound-force.
In addition to full programmability through an easy-to-use graphical user interface, the programmable linear actuator configuration is capable of up to 20 in. of stroke length with a variety of screw pitches, allowing fine-resolution linear motion. It is suitable for small gantry robots, motion systems for optics and lasers, high-resolution imaging, precision fluid dispensing and other applications requiring precise linear motion.
Programming the actuator is done via on-screen graphic buttons instead of complicated command sets or other programming languages. The software allows the system designer to easily troubleshoot programs through line-by-line or multiple-line program execution using the interactive debug feature. Inputs and outputs also can be simulated in software before ever connecting actual input/output hardware.
Other features include a single supply voltage of 12 to 75 VDC, 3.85 A rms maximum rated current per phase with a 30% boost current capability for ramping, and eight opto-isolated general-purpose input/outputs. The inputs are rated for 5 to 24 VDC, 4 mA maximum per input. The outputs are open collector, 5 to 24 VDC, 200 mA maximum per output.
